school140 is an app for practising languages every day. Here we explain what data we keep, why, who sees it and how to delete it.
In short
- We keep only what is needed for learning.
- No ads. We don’t sell the data or use it for advertising.
- Tasks, corrections and the conversation are prepared by artificial intelligence (AI): Claude, made by Anthropic. You talk with an AI assistant, not with a person. AI can make mistakes.
- You can delete your account and all its data at any time: in the app (“Delete account” at the bottom of the home screen) or by writing to support@school140.com.
What data we keep
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Email and password (encrypted) | to sign in and know whose progress it is |
| Language you’re learning, language of explanations, level | so the tasks have the right difficulty |
| Text of answers and of conversations with the AI | to check answers and count the words learned |
| Progress: words learned, session dates, time zone | to review each word on the right days |
| Hobbies you mentioned in the conversation (for example, “football”) | so the tasks are about topics you enjoy |
| Technical error logs | to fix problems |
We don’t keep: surname, address, phone number, photos or location. The app doesn’t record voice.
Cookies: only the sign-in cookie, so you don’t have to type the password every time. No advertising or analytics cookies.
Where it is stored and who it is sent to
- Supabase: the database. Servers in Ireland (European Union).
- Vercel: hosting for the app. Requests are processed in Ireland (European Union).
- Anthropic (United States): receives the text of tasks and answers to create the tasks and check the answers. Under its terms, Anthropic doesn’t use this data to train its models.
- ElevenLabs: receives the text of a word or sentence to read it aloud.
We don’t share the data with anyone else.
Who sees the data
Only the school140 administrator — to help with learning, fix problems and keep things safe. Other users don’t see your data and don’t communicate with each other inside the app.
Safety in the conversation with the AI
- The AI doesn’t ask for personal data: surname, address, phone number, photos, social media or passwords.
- The AI doesn’t suggest talking outside the app.
- If you write that you feel bad or scared, the AI will respond seriously and recommend talking to someone you trust and, if you’re in danger, contacting emergency services.
Age
school140 is for people aged 16 and over. Younger users may use the app only with their parents’ permission; parents can ask us at any time to delete their child’s account by writing to support@school140.com.
How long we keep it and how to delete it
- We keep the data while the account exists.
- You can delete the account without help: at the bottom of the home screen, “Delete account”. The account and all its data are deleted immediately and permanently.
- You can also ask to see or delete your data by writing to support@school140.com from the account’s email. We will delete the account and all its data within 7 days.
- If something changes significantly (for example, payments or voice recording), we will update this page.
